Artist statement:

The project was conceived as a series of interventions in the urban invironment with the help of laser projection of the red cross. However, during the first intervention, the policemen asked the artist not to do such actions in the city. The project was implemented in a temporary residence (shelter) in Lviv, where the artist from Kharkiv currently lives as an IDP.

The cross has many definitions. As a symbol, it has a religious meaning. It is not only a crucifix, but also a symbol of crusades and Christian brotherhoods. Also the cross is a symbol of help, both medical and any other.

Now in the conditions of war, we see how quickly our perception of reality is changing.

Now the cross is not only what it was before. Today the cross is both a target and a conventional mark by which the armed forces of Ukraine mark their equipment. An absolutely archaic symbol in the shortest possible time destroys itself and acquires new meanings that will continue to change, depending on the time, place and conditions under which this symbol will be displayed.

The artist demonstrates the metamorphosis of myth as a basic archetype of human culture, as a process that constantly complements itself and creates itself anew, adding new meanings.

Materials: The laser is chosen as a tool that is a metaphor for the speed of change.
