OUR TOWER - IN EVERY HOME

In 2021, there was no money for an archaeological expedition in Tyagin, instead there was COVID-19. The "Ukraine-Lithuania Cultural Center" estimated that 60,000 hryvnias were needed for the expedition, and the NGO Center for Cultural Development "Totem" came up with an action that has already included to the textbooks on creative fundraising, because it was incredibly pleasant for all participants, and donors.

On a wonderful spring day, the artists were invited to plein-air near the Vytautas Tower. After a long winter and COVID isolation, all of us wanted sun, fresh air, communication, and art. The artworks created during the plein-air were offered for sale to support of archaeological research of Tyagin.

When the Kherson artists arrived to the Tower, artists from the town of Nova Kakhovka and the village of Vesele were already waiting for them there. They heard about plein-air and decided to join.

35 paintings were created in one day! Then during a month, we managed collecting funds, sending artworks to different cities of Ukraine and Lithuania. The process was extremely exciting, because the action was supported by both Lithuanians and Ukrainians, and each name for us meant not only funds for the expedition, but support of discovering the true history of Ukraine.
