Synergy exhibition at the Archaeological Museum

February 16, 2022. We opened the exhibition "Tyagin Fortress" / "Lendart and archeology: new synergy through the borders" in the heart of Kyiv, in the the Archaeological Museum of the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. It was the first presentation of the finds of the Southern Medieval Expedition for 6 years. Artworks of Ukrainian and Lithuanian artists helped to imagine the beauty of Tyagin and feel the fascinating atmosphere of archaeological expeditions.

The date of opening of the exhibition was symbolic. February 16, 1918 is the Restoration of the State Day in Lithuania, and the Day of the Unity of Ukraine also. We talked about more than 500 years of common history of Ukraine and Lithuania that is inspiring artists and uniting scientists.

The authors of the exhibition, participants and guests were warmly greeted by Valdemaras Sarapinas, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine, Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Serhii Pirozhkov, academician and Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

On the second day, the exhibition gathered the Lithuanian diaspora in Ukraine, friends and colleagues who worked with us and supported the expedition.

The exhibition combined the past and the present organically, and archaeological finds and artworks of landart complement one another. The Archaeological Museum offered to extend it until the end of the 2022 year. We were so happy...
