Inner Slavutych, 2014
Performance with slides
Director: Maxim Afanasyev
Playwrights: Mykola Homanyuk (text), Maxim Afanasyev (photo)
In consciousness of the inhabitant the city of Slavutych is mixed with a set of terrible stereotypes and ideas of the radioactive zone and the mutagen nature which is bearing the impress of the tragedy of Chernobyl. Surprisingly, but it is quite natural that the part of the city administration clings to the Great Tragedy, as to the certain brand of the city assuming its special status. And it is actually terrible. Because a person from the outside moves in advance reminiscence and feeling of the Accident to all city, in his imagination a priori turning it into a memorial complex. But there is no anything like that. Slavutych is not Prypyat. It is not an open-air museum. It is shipped in the problems, as well as thousands of cities of Ukraine.
The performance is created in partnership with the DramArt Studio (Slavutych) within the residence at the Festival of Film and Urbanism “86”
